Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary

"Extra Credit 1"

In Rene Magritte’s exhibit “The Mystery of the Ordinary,” at the M.O.M.A, there were many works of art that touches the line between reality and fantasy. The work I chose was “Les Amants.” It shows two lovers kissing with a cloth over their heads. The reality of this work is what most people do everything and that’s kiss. The fantasy in the art work is that nobody kisses while having cloths wrapping around their heads. The elements the artist use to relate to out waking reality is people kissing. The elements the artist uses to negate or deny our understanding of reality is how the two people have cloths wrapped around their heads.  In my opinion, the altered perception of reality shows how people kiss but by having cloth wrapped around your heads it seems pointless because nobody does this in real life.

Jerry's Digital Collage

My collage consist of a weird dream i had one night. It was a war among all living creatures for a power source of some sort. In that dream i heard voices saying "We have to get that power sources its the only way we can live in the world we are in now". Afterwards i woke up and thought to myself that would be an interesting world to live in.

Using Nature to do Art!

I found this very interesting video of a Bee Keeper and a Sculptor getting together to make a 3D sculpture out of bee wax.

“Illustrate a Story”

Project #3

http://storycorps.org/listen/happy-dodson-and-taz-roman/

This is a story of Happy Dodson and Taz Roman, they are two motorcycle riders, but not just any riders. If people were to see them ride down the street they will be scared of them and their gang. The two bikers are from a group called Bikers Against Child Abuse. They protect and help kids from abusive adults. I myself don't have any kids but someday I will and I would like nothing to happen to them. I want to know that when I am not around nothing will happen to them, that they will be safe from any harm.

In my picture I have a little girl that was being abused by two people. Once they seen the group of bikers they started to go the other way so they won't get hurt.

Good or Bad Art

Art is art, whether a piece is good or bad is subjective to the observer’s point of view.As for me i very much into abstract art. In abstract art you can let your imagination flow and make thing that are not in the real world or exaggerate things a bit almost like a lie.

As for bad art, I don't think there are any bad art at all its all in the person making that master piece. Art’s only reason for being is to provoke emotion. But then what type of emotion? One may see a gory painting that makes you agitated, but is that good art? Is a piece of art only good because it is popular or trendy? And if so then does bad art become good art when it is decided popular.
